Why a Hair Dryer White Noise CD?

Hair Dryer White Noise CD

Why would a fussy baby benefit from listening to a hair dryer white noise cd? Well, sometimes, we all just need to zone out. And this is especially true of cranky, crabby babies.

One effective way to help your baby zone out is to mask out all other extraneous, sounds through playing a white noise cd. If you don't know what white noise is, think about the way a fan hums, or the way the tires sound against the road. Does that ever make you sleepy? Did you used to fall asleep in long car rides when you were a kid? Or do you still today? White noise is that rhythmic, monotonous sound that when played, is instantly calming to a fussy baby.

Baby white noise effects baby in the following ways.

First, the white noise sound works to mask, or block out other noises that may frighten your baby; consequently leading to a fussy outburst. How many of you have ever said, "Ssshh, the baby's sleeping!" Or ran frantically through the house to squelch the shrill ringing of your phone? You can quit walking on eggshells at naptime. Playing a CD in your baby's room while she sleeps can help her sleep better, longer, and without being startled by any loud noises.

Second, a similarity exists between a hair dryer sound and the sound your baby heard for all those months while in the womb. Some experts think that if you recreate the womb sound for your baby, it instantly has a calming effect. See the video below to see how the hair dryer sound effects a fussy baby.

We wholeheartedly recommend the use of a white noise cd. We both have used them for our colicky babies, and they work wonders. With a CD, you have control over the volume. Who wants to hear a hair dryer blowing for 2-4 hours while your baby sleeps? Not to mention the hot air it creates and the potential to burn up the hair dryer!

If you have the capability, another great way to access the hair dryer is sound is by a white noise mp3.

Hair Dryer White Noise for Fussy Baby

It sounds pretty ludicrous...we know. But, don't knock it 'til you try it.

Research has shown that fussy babies respond well to white noise created from a hair dryer or a vacuum cleaner.

Why?

It seems the sound emulates the womb sound baby heard for so many months in mom's tummy. More info on baby white noise.
