Colic Calm Gripe Water

4 Reasons to Try It for a Fussy Baby

Colic Calm gripe water could be that "magic potion" you've been searching for to calm your fussy baby. Never heard of gripe water? Well, let us enlighten you.

Gripe water is a century-old homeopathic remedy that started in England in the mid-1800's by a guy named Dr. Woodward. He actually coined the term gripe water from the 19th century slang term for gastroenteritis…"watery gripes." His brand, Woodward's Gripe Water, was and is still used to relieve fussy baby symptoms such as gas, stomach cramps and hiccups in Europe.

In the U.S., however, we have many brands of gripe water to select from. But, beware, they aren't created equal. At Fussy Baby Relief, we are confident that Colic Calm is the best of the bunch, and we can give you four reasons why.

Check the ingredients
Your baby might be harmed by some of the ingredients that are contained in other brands in the marketplace. So, you need to be careful. For the record, Colic Calm contains:

- No alcohol.

Of course you don't want to give your baby something that contains alcohol. There are several brands that previously contained alcohol (i.e., the Woodward's brand mentioned above), difficult as that is to believe. But, to be honest, hardly any brands today include alcohol as an ingredient. It still pays to take a look at the ingredients just to make sure.

- No baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)

Baking soda is contained in the brand that is most commonly available for purchase in drugstores (Baby's Bliss). There are several legitimate reasons why you should not give your baby baking soda. For starters, baking soda is known to hamper an infant's capacity for iron and folic acid absorption. Babies might not grow like they should if they have a folic acid deficiency. Iron deficiencies can lead to learning problems and decreased alertness. That is why you don't want to buy a gripe water that contains baking soda. Also, baking soda is alkaline and may disrupt the fragile pH balance in an infant's digestive system.

- No concentrated herbal oils or extracts

Dilution of organic substances makes them safe for infants. In a lot of other gripe water brands, these oils and extracts are included in potent strengths, rather than as dilutions. To ensure safety and effectiveness for your baby, the ingredients in the solution must be diluted so that the organic materials included are available at levels that are safe for your baby to ingest.

Follows FDA Guidelines
Colic Calm is a homeopathic medication which adheres strictly to FDA rules and is produced under the FDA regulations for safety, concentration, purity and labeling. There are some gripe waters that are labeled as dietary supplements. They don't qualify as a homeopathic medicine because they don't meet the FDA requirements. This may account for the reports of product recalls for some of these brands.

Has proven to be 90% successful in the treatment of baby colicEcstatic parents have sung the praises of this brand by leaving glowing testimonials in various places throughout the Internet.

Colic Calm also works for acid reflux, hiccups, teething, and baby gas.

Here are just some of the few all-natural Colic Calm ingredients.

  • Peppermint (which relieves gas and cramping)
  • Chamomile (which calms and soothes and also cures restlessness)
  • Fennel (which relieves spasms and cramps)
  • Ginger (do you recall drinking Ginger Ale when you had an upset stomach as a child?)

Hair Dryer White Noise for Fussy Baby

It sounds pretty ludicrous...we know. But, don't knock it 'til you try it.

Research has shown that fussy babies respond well to white noise created from a hair dryer or a vacuum cleaner.

Why?

It seems the sound emulates the womb sound baby heard for so many months in mom's tummy. More info on baby white noise.
